Title: How to Get Free Stuff

Expand the description and view the text of the steps for this how-to video.

Check out Howcast for other do-it-yourself videos from Dynamic and more videos in the Fast Cash category.

You can contribute too! Create your own DIY guide at http://www.howcast.com/videos/new or produce your own Howcast spots with the Howcast Filmmakers Program at http://www.howcast.com/filmmakers/apply.

Free—it's the f-word that everybody loves to hear. There's no reason you can't start hearing it more often.

To complete this How-To you will need:

Internet access
A phone
Spare time
Determination
A burning desire to get things without paying for them

Step 1: Find free samples

Visit the web sites of your favorite brands, and see what offers and giveaways they're running. If they have no freebies listed, give their consumer hotline a call and ask for samples—companies often have stacks ready to mail out.

Step 2: Volunteer for students

Many cosmetology, dental, and accounting schools require their students to gain real-life experience by providing free services to the public. Find schools in your area and inquire about no-charge services. You may feel like a guinea pig at times, but students are always supervised. And nothing beats the price.

Step 3: Take online surveys

If you have an opinion and some spare time, there are hundreds of sites willing to shower you with free stuff in return for filling out marketing surveys. You'll rack up points that are redeemable for electronics, appliances, and gift cards. Type "online surveys rewards" into a search engine.

Tip: Stay away from sites that require credit-card information or demand a fee.

Step 4: Attend trade shows

Find upcoming trade fairs in your area that are open to the public. Talk to as many vendors as you can. No matter the exhibition, there's sure to be free merchandise and swag bags at every turn. And don't be afraid to be blunt when asking for freebies—they're used to it.

Tip: Show up to a trade show on the last day. Vendors will often have leftover displays and other goodies they'd rather give away than pack up.

Step 5: Freecycle

Join an online recycling or "freecycling" network. There are several eco-friendly web sites that allow users to give and receive just about anything. It's free to join, and a great way to reuse items that would otherwise end up in a landfill.

Step 6: Blog

Hop onto a free blog-hosting site and start reviewing whatever interests you: movies, music, books, food. If you attract enough traffic, expect companies to start sending you free DVDs, CDs, or other samples related to whatever you blog about.

Step 7: Barter

Bartering, or trading goods and services, isn't technically free, but it won't cost you cash. Go to a web site that offers free classified ads, post descriptions and photos of goods you want to get rid of, and wait for the offers to roll in. Who knows what you can find in return?

Title: Halloween Music (Free Download)

I love mixing scary sounds and music together to make chilling soundtracks for my house at Halloween. I created this piece entireley out of audio content found on the internet. Some of it was ripped from games and movies. You can actually loop it, so you can play it over and over again on repeat without any awkward transitions in between. I also made sure that it would take quite a while to get annoying (since looped music tends to do that), by making sure it didn't have any steady paticular beat. It's completely free, but remember, some content belongs to other companies, so trying to sell this audio track is a definite no! Otherwise, feel free to download it for personal use. Keep in mind that it might be a litle too scary for children's parties! You can rip the audio with with most music programs, or just use the download link below.

Remembering Jeanne and George Shapiro

por | | 0 comments

Remembering Jeanne and George ShapiroMy mother-in-law, Jeanne Shapiro, passed away a few weeks ago. She's lived quite a few years now without her long-time husband (and father of my wife), George Shapiro. In their day, it is said, the dance floor would clear when they stepped onto it, thrilling their friends and fellow dancing pals.

I made this portrait of them about 12 years ago, when I first met them in their Florida home. I hope this image will remind many family members and friends of the love and life Jeanne and George shared together, and resonate with their presence for all time.

Title: Nefertiti ~ Queen of the Nile - Part 1 - Jeanne Crain ◊ Edmund Purdom ◊ Vincent Price

Part 1 of 9

Watch part 2 with this link:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HG58CEPoKnA

Nefertiti ~ Queen of the Nile (1961) starring Jeanne Crain, Edmund Purdom, Vincent Price and Liana Orfei. Directed by Fernando Cerchio.

Impossibly romantic Sword & Sandal film set in Ancient Egypt with one of the best cast ever. Aside from Crain, Purdom, Price, Orfei., there are others including Raf Baldassarre and Alberto Farnese.

The screenplay oozes story-book romance, with tormented lovers set against a beautiful and turbulent exotic setting. Production values are excellent or above average from other Peplums. The costumes alone are cool. 1940s starlet Jeanne Crain stars as Nefertiti, which is sorta of odd choice but works here. I admit I've only seen one of Crain's films, State Fair, so I'm not too familiar with her career. The male lead is played by uber dashing British actor Edmund Purdom, who was one of the most prolific stars of the Peplum genre and yet he's hardly remember today. One of his first made roles was in the seldom seen Hollywood epic The Egyptian. Sadly, Edmund died this past January. RIP.

And then there's Vincent Price who is always wonderful. His presence alone makes this a must see, whether you like romances or not.

My only gripes with this film are: Crain's crazy eyebrows. Wow! And this film needs to be viewed in widescreen.

During the Peplum explosion there were too few films set in Ancient Egypt. Director Cerchio also directed the great Cleopatra's Daughter. With just these two films, Cechio basically created a mini-Peplum subgenre all by his own.

Enjoy!

Staind Outside

And you,
Can bring me to my knees
Again
All the times
That I could beg you please
In vain
All the times
That I felt insecure
For you
And I leave
My burdens at the door

But I'm on the outside
And I'm looking in
I can see through you
See your true colors
'Cause inside you're ugly
You're ugly like me
I can see through you
See to the real you

All the times
That I felt like this won't end
It's for you
And I taste
What I could never have
It was from you
All the times
That I cried
My intentions
Were full of pride
All I waste
More time than anyone

But I'm on the outside
And I'm looking in
I can see through you
See your true colors
'Cause inside you're ugly
You're ugly like me
I can see through you
See to the real you

All the times
That I've cried
All this wasted
It's all inside
And I feel
All this pain
Stuffed it down
It's back again
And I lie
Here in bed
All alone
I can't mend
But I feel
Tomorrow will be okay

But I'm on the outside
And I'm looking in
I can see through you
See your true colors
'Cause inside you're ugly
You're ugly like me
I can see through you
See to the real you

Orange County Wedding Video at The Hilton Huntington Beach {Roy + Christine}

por | | 0 comments

Here's a low res highlights clip of Christine and Roy's wedding. Super cool couple who are very much in love, they had a lot of support from family and friends. Ceremony took place at St. Nicholas Church in Laguna Woods, CA. and the reception took place at the Hilton Hotel in Huntington Beach, CA. This was the first time I had a chance to work with Jimmy Cheng (Photographer) and his wife Sen. Both were incredibly nice people with a shooting style that worked perfectly with my own (extremely candid).

Title: Real Housewives of Orange County Makeup

A step-by-step tutorial on the signature eye look of the Real Housewives of Orange County on Bravo! Enjoy! (Hair tutorial coming soon!)

*FYI: From now on, I will shoot *most* tutorials in the area where I shot the "Everyday Sexy" eye tutorial. However, it was nighttime when I did this, and my time for doing tutorials is limited so I went ahead and did this in my usual area (didn't have the natural light). I figured since this look uses mostly smokey colors- it wouldn't be a big deal.

Bridesmaid gift idea for your winter wedding: Fleece-lined Plush tights

Tights can be a really fun way to mix up your bridesmaids' style, especially in the cooler months.

Bridesmaid gift idea for your winter wedding: Fleece-lined Plush tights

While picking up a pair of fabulous-fitting jeans at the Denim Bar before my Groupon could expire, I came across these ingenious tights by Plush.

Bridesmaid gift idea for your winter wedding: Fleece-lined Plush tights
They are fleece-lined so they keep you nice and warm without adding any bulk! Don't you just love it when form and function come together so nicely? I tried mine on last night and they were oh-so comfortable, soft, and flattering. They were even thin enough to wear with heels.
Bridesmaid gift idea for your winter wedding: Fleece-lined Plush tights
If you are getting married when or where the weather could prove to be frightful, these might be a great way to pull off a short bridesmaid dress and keep your lovely friends warm and smiling on your big day. (Teeth chattering can be so distracting when you're trying to say "I do.") Plus, unlike that persimmon or fuchsia dress that you chose, your 'maids actually will wear these again, to the tune of skirts and dresses with boots and heels even when Jack Frost is in town.

After braving harsh temperatures in NYC and feeling as though her style suffered because of it, designer Jennifer Kim dreamed these up. Thanks, Jennifer! Her products come in a variety of styles, including leggings and hats.

Choose to see la vie en rose,

Jannah

Josie's Family Jewels - Portrait of Four Boston Generations

por | | 0 comments

Josie Family portrait 2 by Boston photographer Carol Lundeen

Josie Family portrait by Carol Lundeen
With her daughter and daughter's daughter visiting from afar, Josie's wish of a portrait of the three generations together came true.  We tried a variety of locations and angles in what Josie described as her humble home, but her "girl" had grown up here, and this was her home, too, and despite a little clutter from the holidays the home was full of signs of love in every corner and on every wall.  Framed portraits of past generations on the mantle, the bedroom dressers bedecked with b&w snapshots of the not so far past.  It was my pleasure to add to the family collection for generations to come. And by the way, the gems the ladies are wearing represent the 4th generation in this shot, as they are Josie's mom's rings.
