Title: Grace Kelly: A Life In Pictures

This is a photo compilation of Grace Kelly. These are not all of her photographs because she has hundreds of them. The photos featured in this video are among the most famous portraits and well-known candid. You might find your most favourite photo of Grace Kelly among this bunch. Although, I have to say, Grace being photogenic alike other Hollywood starlets doesn't really make it easy narrowing down to these photos ;) My most favourite photo of hers is the last picture at the end of this video. Rest In Peace, Her Serene Highness, Princess Grace P. Kelly of Monaco.

Grace Patricia Kelly was born on November 12th 1929. (coincidentally on the same year, another iconic figure was born too) She was born into wealth where her father, John Kelly was a self made millionaire and an Olympic champion. John Kelly was Irish and Margaret Kelly, Grace's mother, was German. Grace had three other siblings, Peggy, Kell and Lizanne. She was known to be mostly close with her brother Kell (John Kelly Jr.) Often called Gracie, she was not as athletic as her other siblings. Something her parents found to be a dismay. When she attended Ravenhill Academy, Grace blossomed from a shy girl to a warm and friendly person. She became popular among friends for her attributes. Later on, she attended Stevens School and attained the status she had at her old school.

*Her graduation yearbook listed her favorite actress as Ingrid Bergman; her favorite actor, Joseph Cotten; her favorite summer resort, Ocean City; her favorite drink, a black and white chocolate milkshake; her favorite piece of classical music, Debussy's "Clair de Lune"; her favorite orchestra, Benny Goodman; and her favorite female singer, Jo Stafford. Written in the "Stevens' Prophecy" section was, Miss Grace P. Kelly - a famous star of stage and screen.*

After graduating, she pursued her acting career in New York. She studied at the renowned American Academy of Dramatic Arts. They pointed out only on one thing, her Philly Slang must be work upon. Grace developed a rather one-of-a-kind accent that centers between an American debutante and a British schoolgirl. Her graduation performance was of The Philadelphia Story.

^LIZANNE LE VINE: We argued and we fought. And -- well, I mean, like sisters would. And one time, I locked her in a closet, and I didn't tell anybody about it for a long, long time. And mother finally asked...

KING: Many little sisters have wanted to do that.

LIZANNE LE VINE: Yes. And I said it was such a relief. But you know what? It wasn't such a good thing anyway because she had so much fun in that closet.

(LAUGHTER)

LIZANNE LE VINE: Well, she found a book and she found some jacks and she -- and she just didn't want to come out!^

Title: Behind the scenes #6 - Strobist portraits at sunset on water with Lastolite EzyBox Hotshoe

This short clip shows a strobist portrait photoshoot that I did last summer for a newspaper. I photographed the german politician Thomas Iseke short after sunset on the Lake Steinhude and used only one Lastolite EzyBox 60x60cm (24x24") with a SB-800, triggered with the CLS in iTTL-mode by one SB-800 on-camera.

Used equipment:

Nikon D3
14-24mm
2x SB-800
Lastolite EzyBox Hotshoe

Title: At My Wedding Twitterring and Facebooking at the Altar

This was just done to be funny - we really don't Facebook THAT often :).

A special thanks to Mountain Christian Church in Joppa, MD. If you are in the area and are looking for someplace with great community, children, and small group ministries check us out at http://mountainchiristian.org.

I have a lot of family scattered around the country and we all use Facebook a lot to keep in touch. So when Tracy and I were engaged, most of my family found out via Facebook because we updated our statuses.

I surprised not only my guests, but also Tracy by pulling out my phone and posting on Facebook and Twitter from the altar during out wedding.

I had her phone ready in my pocket, so when she asked for it I could hand it to her. No one knew about this except the minister, and myself.

Here is the twitter post:

The Lost Arts of Photography - Clay Blackmore Delights the Professional Photographers of Massachusetts

por | | 0 comments
Photographer Clay Blackmore at Professional Photographers of MA 4.4.10-9654
Remember those huge dumps of snow they got in D.C. this winter?  Well, Clay Blackmore, one of the world's most well-known, down to earth and passionate photographers, tromped through it sock-footed and on his belly and butt to get the images he felt compelled to create for his wedding client in these physically challenging but visually rich conditions.

Clay came to Boston yesterday to present his program "How to Photograph Everyone" for the  Professional Photographers of Massachusetts (PPAM) April seminar.  Clay has studied posing and lighting for decades and has reached a level of mastery that most of us only dream of.  What he demonstrated were what I consider to be the lost arts of posing and lighting.  With so many wedding photographers out there who can make mediocre to excellent candid shots on the weekend, it was wonderful to see such a strong showing by PPAM members who committed the day to learning more about these classic photography arts.  Moving a light by a nose makes an enormous difference in the quality of a portrait.

And the Winner Is...
Everyone who attended yesterday was a winner, including me, who won a raffle to attend Clay's 4-day Spring Seminar later this month.  Earlier, during lunch, I mentioned life coaching for photographers and Clay invited me to introduce myself as a coach at the workshop and perhaps contribute a splash of coaching to the group.  Can't wait for the joy and discovery of it all!  Who wants to go with me?  There are still a few spots left.

---
Clay Blackmore is a Canon Explorer of Light and a member of the elite Cameracraftsmen group.  His love for photography is evident in every image he creates, and I've attended one of  lectures international audiences

Colorful Cakes

por | | 0 comments

Who doesn't love dessert and pretty cakes. My mind is always going back to the food (that may be as a result of my own personal love affair with yummy bites). I really think if you feed your guests they'll all walk away happy...even if your creepy uncle hit on all your college girlfriends! Check out these beautiful cakes for inspiration, and never forget that pretty cakes also need to taste great. Be watching for more bakery tips in the near future.

Meiko talking about college and incorrect grammar on "Boys With Gilfriends" Hotel Cafe Tour Meiko - Real Real Sweet Live Soho Santa Barbara 100908

you don't know who
you're dealing with do you
with your perfect hair little jezebel
without a thing to do

i heard your voice
when you thought i left the room
i heard you say
i couldn't never compare to you
well i got a secret
that i can't keep

i had a long talk with your baby
in my back seat
and he was real real sweet
yea he was real real sweet

play your cards right
and get out of my life
cause we both know
i am not the quite type

yea i got a secret that
i can't keep
everytime he left you
i was waiting down the street
and he was real real sweet
yea he was real real sweet

but you'll never know you'll never know
the truth
no no no you'll never know the truth
will you

i got secret that i can't keep
i know that he loves you
but he's in love with me
and it goes real real deep
yea it goes real real deep

but you'll never know you'll never know
the truth
no no no you'll never know the truth
will you
