Destination Dresses

As the weather cools, I tend to daydream about destination weddings. While I won't be having one (I'm far too traditional and have to invite far too many people), I think they're wonderful getaways for both the couple and their guests. Any friend that wants to plan a destination wedding, you go right ahead. I'll be there to support you. Until then...I'll be dreaming about these oh-so-destination-worthy dresses!

Wedding Decor Recycling

As far as big league wedding blogs go, Ruffled is one of my all-time favorites. As Korie Lynn pointed out, I cited it as one of the major inspirations for the bridal shower I threw for my sis-in-law, Amanda. (I snagged those cupcake pennants from the Ruffled's DIY free downloads!)
I don't know how I missed it, but Ruffled has done it again with their latest innovation, a wedding recycling marketplace where brides can buy and sell each other's decor. Get this, the listings are free! (Isn't that a bride's favorite word?) It's like classy Craigslist exclusively for weddings. I simply love the "green" concept of re-using perfectly good items that might otherwise just be filling space in an attic. And the chance to save (or make) a buck is always welcome. So, if you're in the midst of planning your affair, hop on over to Ruffled's Recycling tab and check out what recent brides are selling that may be a lovely addition to your decor. And who knows? Maybe in a few months, you'll be passing on your a few things to a like-minded bride-to-be. Some highlights are below. (Pardon the pixelated pics, svp!)

125 vintage dessert plates that a bride scoped out at various thrift stores ($125).

How Sweet It Is banner ($25), nine apothecary jars ($120), and wish tree tag set ($12).

80 vintage hankies ($120)

Vintage Chandelier ($45)

Choose to see la vie en rose,

Jannah

Jet Setter: Big Sur

Sorry I haven't blogged lately.  I spent a few glorious days in magical Big Sur, California. Nature and romance at its best!  I had originally planned to get married in Big Sur, so it was appropriate for my husband and I to spend our 7 year wedding anniversary there.

Big Sur has some of the most breathtaking coastline vistas in the world.  It's the perfect place for a wedding, honeymoon or a romantic getaway.  From luxury resorts to rustic cabins, there is something for everyone.  Picnics at the beach, hiking through giant redwoods to spectacular waterfalls, then relaxing at a spa - all in one day!

The ultimate in luxury is the Post Ranch Inn.  The rooms, the restaurant, the spa...ahh, total bliss.  Ventana Inn is another amazing option.  It's also a great place to hold your wedding.

For a quaint cabin in the woods, budget-friendly Deetjen's Big Sur Inn is the place.  Deetjen's has one of the best restaurants in Big Sur.  But my favorite restaurant is the Big Sur Bakery, which has the best filet and is all organic!

Deetjen Big Sur Inn

Things to do in Big Sur:

1. Hiking in the Ventana Wilderness

2. Picnic at Pfeiffer State Beach

3. Soak in the hot tubs at Esalen.  Clothing optional.

4. Drink wine while watching the sunset at Nepenthe Restaurant (Wedding Spot)

5.  Visit the Henry Miller Library (Wedding Spot)

What to Wear:  The temperatures in Big Sur range from foggy mornings to sunny afternoons, so think layers.  One of my favorite lines is Nau.  "An outdoor apparel company turning out designs strong enough for the backwoods and stylish enough for the urban jungle".

Where to Buy: Nau
